JOB DESCRIPTION
Role: Regional Assistant Chef Manager
Location: Brent Cross, NW2
Job Background: At Genuine Dining our focus is on food, you will be working in an outsourced catering environment, responsible for the co-ordination and delivery of food for our daily breakfast and lunch service in this high end, healthy eating focused staff canteen.
A unique opportunity for a Chef with manager aspirations to climb up through the catering management ladder.
You will have excellent customer service and a “nothing is too much trouble” attitude, supporting the Chef Manager and stepping up where required and leading on your own initiative. This role is the chance to grow your career in a fast paced environment with opportunities to manage your own site.
Reporting to: Chef Manager / Operations Manager
Salary: £10.00 p/hour, a minimum 40 hours over the week – Monday to Friday

Job Description

Designs and prepares meals by planning and implementing menus; controlling food preparation.

Duties:

Prepare menus in collaboration with the Chef Manager
Ensure adequacy of stock, able to use company ordering system
Prepare ingredient fresh ingredients
Follow and work in partnership with the chef manager, and team of four, and have input in new ways of presentation or dishes
Put effort in optimising the cooking process with attention to speed and quality
Enforce strict health and hygiene standards, and maintain the high standards of kitchen hygiene
Help to maintain a climate of smooth and friendly cooperation, good relationship with customers and clients in this fantastic open view kitchen
Monitoring portion and waste control to maintain profit margins
Skills, interests and qualities needed:
Great cooking skills
Excellent use of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and processes
A cool head and an outgoing personality
An ability to delegate appropriately
Organisational flair
A grasp of profit margins
Previous experience in a similar role beneficial
Customer service and people skills, ability to work customer facing
High standards and quality driven
Excellent organisational skills
An immaculate appearance
To work well under pressure with the ability to multi task
Have higher knowledge of health and safety and hygiene
Listening skills
Honest and open
Reliable, committed and flexible
Culinary school diploma, NVQ or City and Guild equivalent in professional cookery.
