Our client is a global leader in sports, events, media and fashion, operating in more than 30 countries. The company represents and manages some of the world’s greatest sports figures and fashion icons; stages hundreds of live events and branded entertainment experiences annually; and is one of the largest independent producers and distributors of sports media.
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Event Director to join the Arts & Entertainment department.
The ED is required to be a strong event operator with experience managing and curating large scale consumer events. The ED is responsible for the overall event plan and execution, for driving the creative vision of the event, and for communicating this vision to the sales, marketing and operations teams. The
ED will need to demonstrate strong management skills and ability to move in a fast pace environment. The ED will need to be a dynamic individual with good inter-personal skills and excellent communication ability.
The lead project for the role will be two large scale food festivals. One is a feel-good festival of food and music for all the family. In 2016, the 5th edition of the festival will take place in the Cotswolds.
The other festival, which has been established since 2004, has set a new benchmark for food and drink events worldwide, with 21 of the same branded festival scheduled to take place across the world this year. This years’ festival in London takes place in Tobacco Dock.
For the festival in the Cotswolds, the ED will be directly responsible for the day-to-day planning, management and execution of the event. This includes managing an Event Coordinator (EC), as well as coordinating with a number of cross-business unit teams working towards achieving different event objectives.
For the London festival, the ED will oversee the budget and topline planning for the event and work closely with an Event Manager (EM) to ensure the event is well planned and executed to a high level.
Candidate requirements:
Proven experience in Event Direction in consumer event industry, with the following qualifying criteria:
o B2C events
o 20k+ visitors;
o Outdoor events;
o Music, food and / or family festival experience (ideally across all 3);
o Feature-led events with exhibition stands (consumer interaction);
o Budgets exceeding £1.5 million GBP
o Requiring liaisons with public sector bodies
Budget management.
Strong content programming experience.
Account management of key relationships with talent, major sponsors and media partners.
Desirable
Experience in creation and implementation of marketing strategies for B2C live events/festivals.
Experience in managing sponsorship and sales campaigns.
Skills and Abilities
Effective leadership based on sound industry, market and customer knowledge.
Superb organization, planning and monitoring as it relates to event activities.
Very strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to build and manage relationships with appropriate internal and external parties.
Excellent time management skills, ability to work calmly under pressure, and meet hard deadlines.
Strong presentation skills, both in creating and writing presentations for third parties and delivering
event updates in person.
Good initiative and conflict resolution abilities are a must.
