Small Cambridge based business looking for a competent, reliable, strong, practical person to help our small crew move, organise and manage the pallets and parcels in and out of our warehouse.
This is a practical, hands on kind of job. We do not have a computerised stock control or bar-code system. However, as a small business in a niche sector we can offer opportunities for travel in the UK & abroad to assist at trade shows, and the opportunity to grow in the business depending on skills shown – for example product sourcing/development, fossil preparation, marketing, IT and customer relations/sales.
Primary duties are:
- Stock Management
- Stock Selection
- Packing of parcels and pallets
- Goods in and out
Secondary duties:
- Dealing with customers
- Ordering supplies & consumables
- Grading, pricing, cleaning & display of crystals
& fossils - Forklift & vehicle use
- Assisting other staff
Previous experience & essential skills:
- Hands on stock management & load handling
- Manual handling of 20kg boxes
- Interest in Geology, Crystals & Fossils
- Strong teamwork & communication skills
- Adaptable, self-motivated & organised
- Stamina to deal with the physical side of the job
Start date Dec 1st.
4 months initial training/probation period, followed by 6 months covering paternity leave. Employment beyond initial 10 months a strong possibility if clearly good at the job, and both parties agree. If you want to work with a small crew in a varied role, this would be an ideal opportunity.
Forklift training would be offered during the first 3 months it the candidate does not already have a relevant forklift licence/qualification.
Wages will be: £7.20 per hour for first 4 months, raising to £7.65 per hour thereafter.
